Aequs Partners with Tramontina to Establish Rs 80 Crore Cookware Manufacturing Facility in Karnataka
Aequs, a domestic contract manufacturer, announced plans to invest Rs 80 crore in a new cookware production facility in Karnataka. This venture is in collaboration with Brazilian firm Tramontina. The two companies have established a 50:50 joint venture to manufacture cookware and other consumer products for both Indian and international markets.

The manufacturing plant will be situated at the Hubballi Durable Goods Cluster (HDC). This will be Tramontina's first manufacturing facility outside the Americas. The partners aim to leverage the 400-acre consumer ecosystem at HDC, which offers comprehensive manufacturing infrastructure.
Tramontina's Strategic Entry into India
Tramontina entered the Indian market last year with an omnichannel retail strategy. This approach utilises general commerce, modern retail, and e-commerce platforms to distribute its products widely across the country. Aravind Melligeri, Aequs chairman and CEO, noted that Tramontina has been operational for over a century.
The growing global demand for premium cookware presents significant opportunities. Eduardo Scomazzon, chairman of Tramontina, stated that the Hubballi unit will enable the company to serve global markets with high-quality products under competitive conditions while also meeting local demand.
Currently, Tramontina offers 22,000 kitchenware and household products available in 120 countries.
