AIIMS Delhi Reverses Decision; OPD Services To Remain Open During Ram Mandir Consecration

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, has decided to keep its Outpatient Services (OPD) open during the Ram Temple consecration ceremony, reversing its earlier decision to shut down until 2:30 pm.

On Saturday, AIIMS Delhi initially announced the closure of OPD services until 2:30 pm on the day of the Ram Temple consecration, with only emergency services operational. However, a day later, the hospital released a statement on X, stating that all clinical services, including the OPD, would remain open to attend to patients with appointments.

The decision comes after concerns were raised about the potential impact on patients who had previously scheduled appointments on the day of the consecration ceremony. Recognizing the importance of providing uninterrupted healthcare services, AIIMS Delhi chose to modify its initial plan.

"In continuation with the circular dated January 20 of this office, the outpatient department shall remain open to attend to patients with appointments to prevent any inconvenience to them and to facilitate patient care," the new office memorandum stated.

The hospital emphasized that all critical clinical care services would remain operational, ensuring that patients in need of medical attention would not face disruptions during this significant event.

The consecration ceremony at the Ayodhya Ram temple, scheduled for Monday, is expected to draw high-profile attendees, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
