Air India emergency landing in Delhi after A320 engine fire indication on AI2802 flight
An Air India A320 operating flight AI2802 from Bengaluru to Delhi made an emergency landing at Delhi airport after the cockpit crew received an engine fire indication on final approach. An Air India Airbus A320 carrying 160 passengers and crew made an emergency landing in Delhi. Sources linked the diversion to a suspected engine fire on Thursday evening. The aircraft was on flight AI2802 from Bengaluru to Delhi. Flight data on Flightradar24.com showed the plane touched down at about 9.30 pm.

Air India said the crew used standard procedures and completed a safe landing at Delhi airport. The airline added that everyone on board was safe. Passengers and crew left the aircraft in the normal way. The incident happened during the final approach into Delhi, according to the airline’s statement.

During the approach, the cockpit crew received a fire warning from one engine, Air India said. The airline stated that the indication was later confirmed as true. One source said it was still not confirmed whether there was an actual fire in the engine. Sources also said there were 160 passengers and crew aboard.
Air India said it was beginning a full investigation into what caused the incident. The airline said it was working with the relevant regulatory authorities during the probe. "We are committed to sharing further verified information as soon as it becomes available,\" the statement added. No further operational details were given in the statement.
Air India incident in Bengaluru: A321 tail strike
In a separate event on Thursday morning, an Air India aircraft had a tail strike while landing in Bengaluru. The flight had 181 passengers on board, sources said. The narrow-body A321 was operating as flight AI2651 from Delhi to Bengaluru. After the tail strike, the aircraft was grounded for a detailed inspection.
Air India reported that the Delhi landing ended without injuries, and all onboard disembarked normally. The airline also said it was investigating the suspected engine fire indication with regulators. Separately, the A321 involved in the Bengaluru tail strike remained grounded for checks after the morning incident.
