Air Indias inaugural Airbus A350-900 aircraft is set to make its grand arrival in Delhi, marking a new era for the airline. The wide-body aircraft will initially serve short-haul routes, showcasing its advanced features and enhanced passenger experience.

Air India's first wide-body Airbus A350-900 aircraft is set to arrive in the national capital on Saturday, December 24, 2022. The airline's chief, Campbell Wilson, announced this development on Friday. Initially, the plane will be operated on short-haul routes before being deployed on long-haul flights later in the year.

New Uniforms for Air India Staff

In addition to the arrival of the new aircraft, Wilson also announced that new uniforms for the airline's ground staff and Air India Express staff will be introduced soon. Recently, Air India introduced new uniforms for its cabin and cockpit crew.

Post-Arrival Regulatory Processes

As the first of its type for India and Air India, the A350-900 aircraft will undergo various post-arrival regulatory processes before it can be certified to carry passengers. These processes include customs clearance, DGCA checks on equipment, ground tests, and proving flights to demonstrate procedures in action.

Short-Sector Operations and Pilot Training

After completing the regulatory processes, Air India will operate the A350-900 on short sectors for a few months. This will allow pilots to familiarize themselves with the new aircraft under the guidance of experienced instructors. The airline aims to build a sufficient pool of trained pilots to support long-haul A350 operations later in the year.

Regulatory Nod for Engineering Line Maintenance

The Tata Group-owned full-service carrier has already secured regulatory approval for engineering line maintenance of A350 aircraft. This is a significant step forward in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of all six A350 aircraft that are to be inducted into the fleet.

The arrival of the first Airbus A350-900 aircraft marks a new chapter for Air India. With its modern design, fuel efficiency, and passenger comfort, the A350 is expected to enhance the airline's operations and provide a better travel experience for passengers.
