Air India Cancels 400 International Flights Monthly From June to August; Check Full Route-Wise List
Air India will cancel nearly 400 international flights each month between June and August 2026, affecting routes across North America, Europe, Australia and Southeast Asia. The decision comes as soaring aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices and continued airspace restrictions linked to geopolitical tensions in West Asia make several long-haul routes commercially unviable.
Air India Cancels 400 International Flights Between June & August
The airline is suspending several routes and trimming frequencies on others rather than dropping entire regions. Cuts stretch across key hubs including Delhi and Mumbai, with some services paused only until the end of August and others reduced for July and August.

Will You Get a Refund if Your Air India Flight Is Cancelled?
Air India said affected travellers would receive support through rebooking on other flights, free changes of travel date or full refunds. The move comes after the Federation of Indian Airlines warned the government on 26 April that the sector was under "extreme stress" and on the "verge of stopping operations" because of rising aviation turbine fuel costs.
Delhi-Shanghai, Chennai-Singapore, Mumbai-Dhaka & More Flights Suspended; Check Complete Route-Wise Air India international flights cuts
Southeast Asia and nearby regional routes see some of the strongest changes. Delhi-Shanghai, Chennai-Singapore, Mumbai-Dhaka and Delhi-Malé are suspended until the end of August. Delhi-Singapore falls from 24 to 14 weekly flights, while Mumbai-Singapore drops from 14 to seven flights a week.
Services to Bangkok and other Southeast Asian cities are also affected. From July, Delhi-Bangkok goes from 28 to 21 weekly flights and Mumbai-Bangkok from 13 to seven. Delhi-Kuala Lumpur is halved from 10 to five flights per week. Delhi-Ho Chi Minh City reduces from seven to four weekly flights in July and August, and Delhi-Hanoi from five to four.
European routes see targeted reductions instead of full suspensions. Delhi-Paris is cut from 14 weekly flights to seven. Delhi-Copenhagen, Delhi-Vienna, Delhi-Zurich and Delhi-Rome each move from four to three flights a week. Delhi-Milan reduces from five to four weekly services, reflecting the wider long-haul pressure.
North America sees some of the largest changes to Air India international flights. Delhi-Chicago is suspended, while Delhi-San Francisco drops from 10 to seven weekly flights until the end of August. Delhi-Toronto is cut from 10 to five weekly services until July, then returns to daily in August, and Delhi-Vancouver reduces from seven to five flights a week.
Other services on the North American network are reshaped rather than reduced overall. Delhi-JFK remains at seven weekly flights. Mumbai-Newark rises from three weekly flights to daily service, while Delhi-Newark and Mumbai-JFK are suspended, changing how passengers connect between India and the United States.
Services to Australia are also being trimmed in response to fuel and routing pressures. Both Delhi-Melbourne and Delhi-Sydney move from daily operations to four flights per week. These routes, like other long-haul sectors, are sensitive to higher fuel costs linked to the conflict in West Asia and restricted airspace.
