After the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad that killed over 270 people, the airline has decided to temporarily stop or reduce some of its international flights. These changes will be in place from June 21 to at least July 15, 2025, as the airline carries out extra safety checks and deals with longer flight routes caused by airspace restrictions.
Why Is Air India Reducing International Flights?
Air India has voluntarily decided to carry out enhanced pre-flight safety checks on its Boeing 787 Dreamliner and 777 aircraft after directives from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). These wide-body aircraft types are now subject to more rigorous inspections, which has led to operational delays and a 15% temporary reduction in wide-body services.
The Air India airline also cited ongoing airspace closures in the Middle East as a contributing factor to longer flight routes and turnaround times.
Air India Flights Temporarily Suspended Until July 15
Here are the Air India international routes that have been completely suspended:
Delhi to Nairobi (AI961/962): 4x weekly flights suspended until June 30.
