The Airline took its official X (Twitter) account, "The flight, which departed from Ahmedabad at 1338 hrs, was carrying 242 passengers and crew members on board the Boeing 787-8 aircraft. Of these, 169 are Indian nationals, 53 are British nationals, 1 Canadian national and 7 Portuguese nationals. The injured are being taken to the nearest hospitals."

An Air India spokesperson addressed the incident involving Flight AI171 (Ahmedabad to London Gatwick) on X, stating, "Flight AI171, operating Ahmedabad-London Gatwick, was involved in an incident today, 12 June 2025. AI171, Flight From Ahmedabad to London Gatwick Crashed
According to a report by the news agency ANI, officials stated that the Air India B787 Dreamliner crashed at 1:38 PM, just five minutes after takeoff. The pilot in command has been identified as Sumit Sabharwal, with Clive Kunder serving as the co-pilot. The aircraft was carrying 232 passengers - 230 adults and 2 infants - along with a 12-member crew, including both pilots.
Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu stated that rescue teams have been deployed and that all necessary efforts are underway to provide medical assistance and relief.
