Air India Receives DGCA Approval for A350, A320 Maintenance
Air India has obtained DGCA approval for engineering line maintenance of A350 and A320 aircraft, making it the first Indian carrier to operate the Airbus 350-900 plane. The airline expects to induct six A350 aircraft in the first phase, with the first plane expected to arrive by month-end.

In a significant development, private carrier Air India has secured the approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for engineering line maintenance of Airbus A350 and A320 aircraft. This approval marks a crucial step forward in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of the six A350 aircraft that are set to join the Air India fleet.
First A350-900 Plane Induction
Air India is eagerly anticipating the induction of its first wide-body Airbus 350-900 plane by the end of this year. This acquisition will make Air India the first air services operator in India to possess this type of aircraft. The airline has ambitious plans to incorporate a total of six such planes in the initial phase.
DGCA Certification for A350 Maintenance
The DGCA approval for engineering line maintenance of the A350 aircraft is a major milestone for Air India. This certification empowers Air India engineers to undertake any work related to the maintenance of A350 aircraft, ensuring that all necessary checks, maintenance, and repairs can be efficiently carried out within Air India's own facilities.
Engineering Team Training
In preparation for the arrival of the A350 aircraft, Air India's engineering team has undergone comprehensive training at the Airbus center in Toulouse, France. This training involved representatives from Air India, Vistara, and AIX Connect, ensuring that the engineering teams are well-equipped to handle the maintenance requirements of the A350 aircraft.
The DGCA approval for engineering line maintenance of A350 and A320 aircraft, coupled with the upcoming induction of the first A350-900 plane, signifies Air India's commitment to enhancing its fleet and providing world-class air services to its passengers. With the necessary regulatory approvals in place and a well-trained engineering team, Air India is poised to embrace the future of aviation with confidence.
