Air Travellers Alert: Indigo, SpiceJet, Air India Suspends Flights, Advisories Issued Amid Operation Sindoor

Commercial flight operations across several North Indian cities have been significantly impacted post Operation Sindoor, in which Indian Armed Forces targeted military action against terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. The war-like situation has triggered flight disruption, and major airlines in India, like Indigo, SpiceJet, and Air India, have issued flight advisories and suspended several services.

IndiGo, SpiceJet, Air India Alert Passengers

Early this morning, the Indian Air Force (IAF) took operational control of the Srinagar Airport following overnight precision strikes on nine terror targets. This military escalation has heightened tensions between India and Pakistan and has led to disruptions in both domestic and international air traffic.

IndiGo Airlines informed passengers that flights to and from Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, and Bikaner have been affected due to changing airspace conditions. The airline urged travellers to check their flight status on official platforms before heading to the airport.

SpiceJet also confirmed that airports in parts of northern India, including Dharamshala (DHM), Leh (IXL), Jammu (IXJ), Srinagar (SXR), and Amritsar (ATQ), are closed until further notice. All departures, arrivals, and connecting flights through these hubs are likely to face delays or cancellations.

Air India Cancels Multiple Flights

National carrier Air India has announced the cancellation of all its flights to and from Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot until at least 12 noon today. In addition, two international flights bound for Amritsar were diverted to Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) due to the ongoing situation.

Flight Operations Disrupted at Major Airports

Airports in key northern cities have seen a halt in operations. This includes closures at Dharamshala, Leh, Jammu, Srinagar, and Amritsar, and possible disruptions at Delhi's IGI Airport. Authorities have advised passengers to stay updated via airline websites and helplines as the situation develops.

What Passengers Should Do?

While tensions are still high after Operation Sindoor, people travelling today are strongly advised to check flight status before heading to the airport, as many flight cancellations are taking place; one should also wait for updates from their respective airlines for any such advisory. Expect delays, diversions, or cancellations, especially for flights involving northern India.
In case of refunds or rescheduling, one should contact airlines directly.
