Airbus has inaugurated the Airbus India Technology Centre in Bengaluru, expanding its strategic footprint in India. The 8,80,000 sq. ft facility is designed for around 5,000 employees and will focus on engineering, digital transformation, customer services, and procurement. Leaders said it reinforces Bengaluru’s role in India’s aerospace ecosystem.
Airbus has opened a new technology centre in Bengaluru, expanding operations in India. The company said the site will support engineering work, digital projects, customer services, and procurement. Airbus described the centre as a key base for its Make in India mission. The facility was launched on Friday, according to the company statement.

The 8,80,000 sq. ft site is called the Airbus India Technology Centre. Airbus said it is built to seat about 5,000 employees. The company added that this capacity leaves room for future hiring. Airbus said it expects fast growth in the region and needs larger teams.
Airbus Bengaluru campus and India aviation ecosystem
The inauguration was attended by Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and Karnataka Minister of Industries and Infrastructure M B Patil. Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu joined the event virtually. Naidu said Bengaluru has become the national centre for aviation, aerospace, and defence manufacturing.
Rammohan Naidu said, "Bengaluru has become the aviation, aerospace and defence manufacturing capital of the country. The inauguration of this grand Airbus campus further strengthens Bengalurus position as a global aviation hub. This campus represents the confidence of India and the confidence that the world has in Indias technological capabilities, he said.\"
Naidu also said Bengaluru now anchors India’s aviation ecosystem. Naidu said the Airbus Bengaluru campus will act as a central base for Airbus work in India. Naidu added that Indian engineers in Bengaluru will design and develop key technologies used across Airbus aircraft and helicopters.
Airbus India Technology Centre and Make in India
Airbus said the Bengaluru campus is its largest engineering and digital centre outside Europe. Airbus said the site is the main driver of its Make in India strategy. Airbus also said the new centre will work as a hub across several functions, including engineering, customer services, and procurement.
Jürgen Westermeier, President and Managing Director of Airbus in India and South Asia said, \"This centre will allow us to scale existing technological competencies and innovation ecosystems while also addressing the customer services and procurement dimensions of our Make in India mission. It ensures that Indian expertise continues to be woven into every stage of our global value chain.\"
Airbus said its sourcing from India has risen sharply in recent years. Airbus said annual sourcing grew from USD 500 million in 2019 to over USD 1.5 billion now. Airbus added it expects to cross USD 2 billion well before the decade ends, based on current plans.
Airbus Bengaluru campus customer services centre
The company said the campus includes a dedicated customer services centre. Airbus said the unit supports customers in India and overseas. Airbus said services include tailored support programmes and flight hour services. Airbus also said it provides broad maintenance and technical support for Airbus customers worldwide.
Airbus said the customer services work is meant to support operations across the global fleet. Airbus also said the Bengaluru hub links Indian teams to wider company programmes. The company said the new centre gives it more capacity for engineering, digital work, procurement, and customer support from India.
