Airtel Business, the enterprise arm of Bharti Airtel, one of India's leading telecommunications companies, has announced a significant reshuffling of its leadership team. As part of this restructuring, CEO Ajay Chitkara is set to exit the company in August, Business today reported.
Ajay Chitkara, the CEO of Airtel Business, has made the decision to step down from his position. With a remarkable tenure of 23 years at Airtel, Chitkara has played a vital role in the company's success. He will continue to fulfil his responsibilities until the third week of 2023, ensuring a smooth transition for the organisation.

The telco also said that Airtel Business will be divided into three businesses and channel segments: Global business, which Vani Venkatesh will oversee; Domestic business, which will be under the direction of Ganesh Lakshminarayanan; and Nxtra Data Centres, which will be under the management of Ashish Arora.
On the development, Gopal Vittal, MD, and CEO, of Bharti Airtel said, "Airtel Business is a jewel in our overall portfolio and presents an exciting growth opportunity going forward. I am looking forward to working closely with Vani, Ganesh, and Ashish to help scale this business."
Thanking Chitkara, MD and CEO of Bharti Airtel Gopal Vittal said, "I also want to acknowledge Ajay's contributions. In his 23 long years with Airtel Ajay has delivered significant impact. He has also built Airtel Business into a strong force. I wish him the very best in his future endeavours."
He also expressed his eagerness to collaborate closely with Vani Venkatesh, Ganesh Lakshminarayanan, and Ashish Arora, describing Airtel Business as a gem in the company's total portfolio.
In 2001, Chitkara began working for Airtel as the sales manager. Since then, he has worked in numerous capacities for the business. The development of the Airtel brand in the international wholesale market is mainly linked to Chitkara. Chitkara was Director and CEO of Global Business and Nxtra before being named CEO of Airtel Business.
Airtel's share price decreased by 0.52% to settle at $851.80 apiece on the BSE. The stock experienced an intraday high and low of 858 each and 846.15 each during the day.
