Airtel Vs Jio: Who Wins This New Year? Telecom Giants Launch New Prepaid Recharge Plans; Check Benefits

Bharti Airtel has introduced a new prepaid recharge plan priced at Rs 398, catering to users seeking both high-speed connectivity and premium entertainment. Now available on the Airtel Thanks app, the company website, and retail outlets, this plan aims to offer value with its entertainment and data benefits.

Plan Features

The Rs 398 prepaid plan from Airtel comes with a variety of enticing benefits designed to appeal to entertainment and data-hungry customers. The plan's key feature is a 28-day Hotstar Mobile subscription, which grants users access to a wide range of live sports, movies, and popular web series. However, it's important to note that the Hotstar Mobile subscription is ad-supported and can only be accessed on one device, specifically the user's smartphone.

Airtel Jio

This Hotstar subscription typically costs Rs 149 for three months or Rs 499 annually, so Airtel is effectively bundling this content with its new prepaid plan.

In addition to the Hotstar subscription, the Airtel Rs 398 plan provides unlimited local, STD, and roaming calls, 2GB of 5G data per day, 100 SMS per day, and a 28-day validity.

Airtel Vs Jio

Airtel's new offering comes at a time when its primary competitor, Reliance Jio, has also rolled out a major prepaid plan. Jio's New Year Welcome Plan, priced at Rs 2025, provides a 200-day validity, far longer than Airtel's 28-day plan.

Jio's plan includes unlimited calling, 500 GB of high-speed 4G data with a daily FUP (Fair Usage Policy) limit of 2.5GB, unlimited 5G data access, unlimited SMS, complimentary access to JioSuite apps, which includes JioTV and JioCinema.

The Jio New Year Welcome Plan is available between December 11, 2024, and January 11, 2025, through the MyJio app and Jio website, targeting long-term users with its extended validity and large data allotments.

With these two major telecom players offering attractive plans, the competition between Airtel and Jio is intensifying. While Jio's plan offers a longer validity and larger data limits, Airtel's plan provides a more targeted entertainment experience with Hotstar integration and a reasonable daily data limit.
