Air India SATS Airport Services (AISATS) is expanding its electric fleet by inducting new Tata Motors electric airport passenger coaches. Two units are set for deployment at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, with 21 ordered for phased rollout across Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Thiruvananthapuram to support cleaner airport transport.
Air India SATS Airport Services AISATS said on Wednesday that it inducted new electric airport passenger coaches from Tata Motors. The ground and cargo handling firm took delivery of two coaches from Tata Motors’ Lucknow plant. AISATS said the move was part of a planned fleet expansion for airport passenger transport.

AISATS said the two electric coaches will be used at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. The handover took place with UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath present. Tata Group Chairman N Chandrasekaran also attended the delivery, according to a release.
Electric airport passenger coaches order expands AISATS fleet
AISATS said it ordered 21 electric airport passenger coaches from Tata Motors. The vehicles are set for gradual rollout at Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Thiruvananthapuram airports. AISATS said it already operates 37 electric coaches across its stations. The firm said the new order will add to those vehicles over time.
The company said eight more vehicles from the 21-unit order are due for handover in the last week of April. AISATS said the remaining units will follow in phases over the next few months. AISATS did not give a final date for completing all deliveries. The company said deployments will happen as vehicles arrive.
Electric airport passenger coaches aim for cleaner passenger movement
"These new electric airport passenger coaches from Tata Motors will enable cleaner, quieter and more efficient passenger movement, starting with Delhi and soon extending to our other stations,\" said Ramanathan Rajamani, CEO, at AISATS.. AISATS linked the additions to its wider plan to strengthen passenger transport within airport premises.
Electric airport passenger coaches tie up with Tata Motors
AISATS said the tie up brings together its airport ground handling experience and Tata Motors’ work in electric commercial vehicles and e-bus platforms. The company said this mix supports operations across major Indian airports. AISATS described the purchase as part of a structured approach to expand its support equipment fleet.
AISATS said it provides ground handling and cargo services at several hubs. These include Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mangaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, Ranchi, Raipur, and Kochi. The company said it serves leading Indian and international airlines at these locations. AISATS did not name specific airlines in the statement.
