The much-anticipated Telugu historical action epic, Akhanda 2: Thaandavam, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, has been postponed indefinitely, much to the disappointment of fans across the country. The sequel, which was expected to bring back Balakrishna in his formidable Akhanda avatar, will no longer release in theatres this week as initially planned.
Akhanda 2: Thaandavam Release Date: Check When Balakrishna's Telugu Action Film Will Release?
The makers had announced December 5, 2025, as the official global release date, with paid premiere shows scheduled on December 4. However, the film now faces delays due to unforeseen legal and financial challenges, according to the production team.

In an official statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, 14 Reels Plus, the film's production company said, "With a heavy heart, we regret to inform you that #Akhanda2 will not be releasing as scheduled due to unavoidable circumstances. This is a painful moment for us, and we truly understand the disappointment it brings to every fan and movie lover awaiting the film. We are working tirelessly to resolve the matter at the earliest. Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused. Your support means the world to us. We promise to share a positive update very soon."
Akhanda 2 Cast and Plot
Akhanda 2 is directed by Boyapati Srinu, who previously helmed the first Akhanda and continues to explore themes of innocence, spirituality and societal development. Nandamuri Balakrishna reprises his dual role as Akhanda Rudra Sikandar Aghora and Murali Krishna, bringing his signature action-packed performance to the big screen.
The film also features:
- Samyuktha Menon as the female protagonist
- Aadhi Pinisetty as the antagonist
- Harshaali Malhotra making her Tollywood debut as Janani
- Supporting roles by Saswata Chatterjee, Shamna Kasim and Kabir Duhan Singh
Fans had high expectations for the film, especially due to the reunion of the Balakrishna-Boyapati Srinu duo, which had delivered the blockbuster first installment.
Balakrishna's Akhanda 2 Premiere Shows; Akhanda 2 Movie Tickets Price Hiking
Ahead of the initial release, the Andhra Pradesh government approved a ticket price hike for premiere shows. According to reports by Deccan Chronicle, the ticket price for all screenings from 8 pm to 10 pm on December 4 was fixed at Rs 600, inclusive of GST, across all cinema halls in the state.
