While the film has generated buzz for its action sequences and the pairing of Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh, early reviews suggest that its screenplay may not live up to the expectations set by the franchise.

Alpha Review: Alia Bhatt-Sharvari Wagh's Film Delivers Action but Falls Short on Story
The film has opened to mixed reactions from critics. Its large-scale action sequences, polished production values and stylish presentation have earned praise, but many reviewers believe the narrative doesn't match the ambition of its visuals.
Several critics have pointed to an inconsistent screenplay, saying the emotional moments fail to leave a lasting impact and that key plot developments lack sufficient depth. Some also felt that the characters' extraordinary abilities make the story feel less believable, reducing the tension that a spy thriller typically relies on.
For audiences who enjoy slick action entertainers and the larger YRF Spy Universe, Alpha may still offer an entertaining theatrical experience. Those looking for a tightly written espionage drama, however, may find it less satisfying.
Alpha Rating: Taran Adarsh Calls Alpha the Weakest Film in the Spy Universe
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh gave Alpha a negative review, describing it as the weakest film in the YRF Spy Universe. Sharing his verdict on X, he gave the film 1.5 stars and gave the one-word review, "WEAK."
"Weakest film in the #YRFSpyUniverse... Brilliant action set pieces, stunning visuals, and a few well-executed sequences, but the writing simply doesn't connect... Missed opportunity!"
Alpa Storyline/Plot
Alpha begins in 1999, when Indian Army officers Vikrant Kaul and Fateh Singh Lakhawat work together to create a secret team called Alpha. The members of this special unit are given an experimental Alpha Serum, which makes them stronger, faster and helps them recover from injuries quickly.
The story takes a dramatic turn when Vikrant uses the serum to save his pregnant wife. Fateh believes the serum should only be used for military purposes, leading to a serious conflict between the two friends.
As a result, Vikrant is separated from his newborn daughter and is made to believe that she has died.
Years later, that daughter, Sita (Alia Bhatt), grows up under Fateh's supervision and becomes a highly skilled secret agent. She spends her life carrying out dangerous missions, unaware of the truth about her family.
Meanwhile, Vikrant's other daughter, Durga (Sharvari Wagh), is raised in Spain, far away from the secret Alpha program.
The two sisters eventually cross paths as they uncover the mystery behind Operation Odyssey. Their journey reveals long-hidden family secrets and brings them face-to-face with Fateh's real plan, leading to a final showdown that decides the fate of their mission.
