Amrit Bharat Express From New Jalpaiguri to Tiruchirappalli: Weekly Train With 38 Stops, Check Timings, Coach

Indian Railways is all set to introduce a new long-distance weekly train service, the New Jalpaiguri-Tiruchirappalli Amrit Bharat Express, aimed at providing affordable yet comfortable travel for passengers across West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

The New Jalpaiguri-Tiruchirappalli Amrit Bharat Express will cover more than 1,500 km, making strategic stops at 38 commercial stations. In West Bengal, the train will halt at major junctions including Kishanganj, Barsoi, Malda Town, Rampurhat, Bolpur, Dankuni, Andul, and Kharagpur.

Moving further south, it will pass through Odisha, stopping at Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur Keonjhar Road, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Khurda Road, Balugaon, and Brahmapur, facilitating better access to coastal Odisha.

The journey continues into Andhra Pradesh, with halts at Ichchapuram, Sompeta, Palasa, Srikakulam Road, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Duvvada, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Ongole, Gudur, Nayudupeta, and Sullurupeta, before entering Tamil Nadu.

Key stations in Tamil Nadu include Chennai Egmore, Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Tiruppadiripuliyur, Chidambaram, Mayiladuthurai, Kumbakkonam, Thanjavur, and finally Tiruchirappalli.

Amrit Bharat Express Timings and Frequency

The service will operate once a week in each direction, using a single 22-coach Amrit Bharat rake. Train 20609 will depart from New Jalpaiguri at 16:45 hrs every Friday, reaching Tiruchirappalli at 16:15 hrs on Sunday, resulting in a journey of slightly over 47 hours. In the reverse direction, train 20610 will leave Tiruchirappalli at 05:45 hrs on Wednesday and arrive at New Jalpaiguri at 05:00 hrs on Friday.

The train will run with a 22-coach Amrit Bharat rake, designed to cater to diverse passenger requirements. The configuration includes general, sleeper, and other passenger coaches to ensure high capacity and comfort on this long route. Chennai Egmore, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Khurda Road, Kharagpur and Malda Town have been designated as CTS stations, while these locations along with Gudur will serve as watering stations.

The primary maintenance of the train will be handled at Tiruchirappalli Junction, while secondary maintenance will be carried out at New Jalpaiguri. Key operational halts include junctions such as Malda Town, Bhadrak, Duvvada, and Gudur, which play a vital role in the smooth running of the service. Certain locations, like Bhatta Nagar, will act as passing stations without commercial stops.
