Amul Projects Over 10% Revenue Growth In FY2025-26, Eyes Rs 1 Lakh Crore Turnover

India's leading dairy brand Amul is eyeing a revenue surge of over 10 per cent in the current financial year, aiming to touch approximately Rs 1 lakh crore, driven by strong consumer demand across its wide range of milk and milk-based products.

Jayen Mehta, Managing Director of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF), the apex body marketing dairy products under the Amul brand, shared the growth outlook in a recent interview with PTI.

According to Mehta, the total turnover of the Amul brand is expected to reach Rs 1 lakh crore in the financial year 2025-26, up from around Rs 90,000 crore in the previous fiscal year.

"At GCMMF, we are targeting a 14 per cent growth this fiscal to Rs 75,000 crore," Mehta said. The remaining Rs 25,000 crore is projected to come from direct marketing efforts of Amul products by its 18 member unions, collectively contributing to the Rs 1 lakh crore milestone.

Reflecting on the previous fiscal year (2024-25), Mehta noted that GCMMF's revenue rose by 11 per cent to Rs 65,911 crore, compared to Rs 59,250 crore in 2023-24. The growth was largely driven by higher volumes across all product categories rather than price hikes. "GCMMF clocked double-digit growth across all product categories," he added, highlighting consistent consumer demand.

While input cost pressures led to a price hike in milk in June last year, Mehta pointed out that prices remained largely stable otherwise. In fact, in January 2025, the cooperative reduced prices of one-litre milk packs by Rs 1 to encourage the purchase of larger pack sizes, offering better value to consumers.
With rising demand, GCMMF is also focused on expanding its processing and supply capabilities. Mehta said the GCMMF would continue to expand capacity to meet rising demand, underlining the organization's long-term growth strategy.

GCMMF is the world's largest farmer-owned dairy cooperative, representing 3.6 million farmers from 18,600 villages in Gujarat. Its 18 member unions collectively procure around 350 lakh litres of milk daily. The cooperative ranks 8th among the top 20 global dairy companies in terms of milk processing capacity, according to the International Farm Comparison Network (IFCN).

Looking ahead, Mehta envisions rapid expansion of Amul's rural footprint. In a conversation with CNBC-TV18 during the Growth Summit in 2024, he revealed ambitions to double the network of villages with cooperatives-from 200,000 to 400,000-within the next 5 to 10 years. "Almost 60-70 per cent of India's population depends on agriculture; this is where a combination of policies, which are pro-farmer, pro-development and pro-market, is the way forward," he stated.

He further expressed confidence in India's global dairy leadership, predicting that the country could contribute over 33 per cent of the world's milk production within the next decade, up from the current 24 per cent.
