On Wednesday, the centre extended the deadline to file GST annual returns for Fy 2021 ended March 2021 till February 28.
"The due date for furnishing annual return in FORM GSTR-9 & self-certified reconciliation statement in FORM GSTR-9C for the financial year 2020-21 has been extended from 31.12.2021 to 28.02.2022," the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) tweeted.

The GST annual return is filed in GSTR 9 and is a requirement to be met by every taxpayer registered under the GST. The form details about the outward and inward.
Notably, GSTR-9C on the other hand is a reconciliation statement between GSTR-9 and the audited annual financial statement. Annual return filing under GST is mandatory for taxpayers with annual aggregate turnover of more than Rs. 2 crore while reconciliation statement is to be furnished only by the registered persons having aggregate turnover above Rs. 5 crore
