Apollo Micro Systems Share Price Rises After SALHS Technology Win; Should You Buy This Defence Stock?

Apollo Micro Systems Ltd shares rose on Thursday after the Hyderabad-based defence and aerospace technology company announced that it had received the Transfer of Technology (ToT) for the Semi-Active Laser Homing System (SALHS). The development has put the defence stock on investors' radar as the company expands its portfolio of indigenous technologies for precision-guided defence systems.

Apollo Micro Systems shares were trading at Rs 378 on September 17, up 2.07% or Rs 7.65 from the previous close, as of 2:37 pm. The stock opened at Rs 371 and touched an intraday high of Rs 383, while its day's low stood at Rs 371.

The stock has seen considerable volatility in recent months. According to Sudeep Shah, Head of Technical and Derivatives Research at SBI Securities, Apollo Micro Systems has been consolidating in the Rs 361-Rs 467 range since late May. The stock, however, has continued to remain above its 20-week exponential moving average, indicating that the broader trend has remained relatively resilient.

Shah said the Rs 365-Rs 370 zone is an important immediate support area. A decisive break below this range could lead to further selling pressure. The weekly RSI has remained largely flat, suggesting that the stock is currently showing a sideways bias.

Why Apollo Micro Systems Shares Are Rising

The immediate trigger is Apollo Micro Systems' receipt of the ToT for SALHS. The system is a precision-guidance technology designed to help guide munitions towards targets marked using a laser.

The technology uses laser-based target detection and guidance capabilities to improve the accuracy of munitions during flight. For Apollo Micro Systems, the technology transfer gives the company access to another specialised defence technology that it can seek to integrate and manufacture for eligible platforms, subject to the necessary qualification and integration requirements.

The company has also been associated with the Multi-Influence Ground Mine (MIGM), known as Vighana. Apollo Micro Systems is an approved production partner under the DRDO Development-cum-Production Partner framework.

The MIGM program received approval from the Defence Acquisition Council in July 2026 and has moved towards production. Developments such as these are important for the company because successful conversion of defence technologies into production orders can provide visibility for future revenue.

Apollo Micro Systems Financial Performance

Apollo Micro Systems has reported strong growth in its FY2026 financial performance. Consolidated revenue from operations increased to Rs 904.32 crore in FY2026 from Rs 562.07 crore in FY2025.

Consolidated profit after tax also increased to Rs 107.38 crore from Rs 56.36 crore during the same period. On a standalone basis, revenue stood at Rs 764.85 crore, while profit after tax rose to Rs 120.58 crore from Rs 57.24 crore a year earlier. EBITDA increased to Rs 231.22 crore from Rs 133.27 crore.

The improvement in revenue and profitability provides a stronger financial backdrop to the company's expansion. At the same time, investors also need to watch its balance sheet. Total borrowings stood at around Rs 485 crore as of March 31, 2026, compared with around Rs 291 crore a year earlier.

Should You Buy Apollo Micro Systems Shares?

From a technical perspective, the Rs 365-Rs 370 region is currently important based on the view shared by SBI Securities' Sudeep Shah. Investors tracking the stock may also watch whether it can sustain its broader trend and move beyond its recent consolidation range.
