With a fresh wave of Apple products expected to arrive this year, the tech giant has streamlined its lineup by discontinuing over ten devices in March. The move reflects Apple's ongoing strategy of phasing out older hardware while making way for more advanced, next-generation products. In some cases, entire product lines have been retired, while others have simply been upgraded or refined.

The discontinued products include -
• iPhone 16e
• 11-inch M3 iPad Air
• 13-inch M3 iPad Air
• 13-inch M4 MacBook Air
• 15-inch M4 MacBook Air
• 14-inch M4 Pro MacBook Pro
• 14-inch M4 Max MacBook Pro
• 16-inch M4 Pro MacBook Pro
• 16-inch M4 Max MacBook Pro
• Apple Studio Display (2022)
• AirPods Max (USB-C)
• Pro Display XDR
• Mac Pro with M2 Ultra
Some of these discontinuations are particularly notable as they signal the end of entire product categories. For instance, Apple has effectively pulled the plug on the Mac Pro lineup. The high-end desktop, last updated in 2023 with the M2 Ultra chip, is not expected to receive any future upgrades. Reports indicate that the Mac Studio, which now offers M3 Ultra and M4 Max chips, has already overtaken the Mac Pro in terms of both performance and practicality for most professional users.
Another major shift is the discontinuation of the Pro Display XDR, a premium monitor first introduced in 2019. While Apple has introduced a new Studio Display XDR, it is not positioned as a direct successor. Instead, it offers a 27-inch 5K display with mini-LED technology and higher refresh rates, highlighting a broader shift in how Apple is catering to professional display needs.
In addition to these changes, Apple has moved several older devices, including the fourth-generation iPad mini, the 2017 MacBook Air, and Apple TV HD, to its "obsolete" list. Products are classified as obsolete if they have not been sold for more than seven years, making them ineligible for repairs or service. While Apple may support "vintage" products for a limited time, obsolete devices no longer qualify for official servicing.
However, there is no reason for Apple fans to be disheartened. Alongside these discontinuities, the company has refreshed its lineup with a range of new devices across categories. Newly introduced products in March include -
- iPhone 17e
- 11-inch M4 iPad Air
- 13-inch M4 iPad Air
- 13-inch M5 MacBook Air
- 15-inch M5 MacBook Air
- 14-inch M5 Pro MacBook Pro
- 14-inch M5 Max MacBook Pro
- 16-inch M5 Pro MacBook Pro
- 16-inch M5 Max MacBook Pro
- Apple Studio Display (2026)
- Apple Studio Display XDR
- MacBook Neo
- AirPods Max 2
Apple also rolled out its Spring 2026 collection, featuring new iPhone cases, Apple Watch bands, updated Crossbody Strap colours, and its first-ever Beats-Nike collaboration, with special-edition Powerbeats Pro headphones.
