Apple Hikes Prices of iPhone 17, Air, 17e and iPhone 16 After New Launch; Check Revised Rates in India

Apple has launched its latest iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in India, but the new-generation launch has brought an unexpected change to the company's existing lineup. Instead of cutting the prices of older iPhones to make room for the new models, Apple has increased the prices of several previous-generation iPhones in India.

The revised pricing affects the iPhone 17, iPhone 17e, iPhone Air and iPhone 16, with the increase varying significantly depending on the model and storage capacity. The updated prices are now reflected in Apple's India pricing, making some older iPhones substantially more expensive than they were before the latest launch.

Apple also introduced its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, during its September 9 "Surprise and Shine" event. The iPhone 18 Pro starts at Rs 1,64,900 in India, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at Rs 1,79,900. The unusual price revision means customers who were waiting for the new iPhone launch to pick up an older model at a lower official price may instead have to pay considerably more.

iPhone 17 Price Up by Rs 17,000 in India

The standard iPhone 17 has received a sizeable price revision. Its 256GB variant is now priced at Rs 99,900, compared with Rs 82,900 earlier. This puts the latest price Rs 17,000 higher than the previous official price.

For customers opting for more storage, the 512GB iPhone 17 now costs Rs 1,24,900. The variant was previously priced at Rs 1,02,900, resulting in a Rs 22,000 increase. The price movement is particularly notable because the iPhone 17 is no longer Apple's newest standard-generation model following the arrival of the iPhone 18 series.

iPhone Air Gets Rs 65,000 Price Hike on 1TB Model

The iPhone Air has recorded the steepest increase among the affected models. The price difference becomes particularly significant for customers choosing the highest storage option.

The 256GB iPhone Air now costs Rs 1,49,900, up from Rs 1,19,900. The price has therefore increased by Rs 30,000. The 512GB version has moved from Rs 1,39,900 to Rs 1,74,900, marking a Rs 35,000 increase.

The biggest jump is seen in the 1TB model, whose price has climbed from Rs 1,59,900 to Rs 2,24,900. That is a steep Rs 65,000 increase, making it the largest price revision among the models covered by the latest change.

iPhone 17e Gets Major Price Revision

Apple has also revised the prices of the iPhone 17e, with both listed storage variants becoming more expensive. The 256GB model is now priced at Rs 79,900, compared with Rs 64,900 earlier. Buyers therefore face an additional Rs 15,000 at the revised price. The 512GB version has seen an even higher increase, with its price moving from Rs 84,900 to Rs 1,04,900. This represents a Rs 20,000 jump.

The price revision also extends to the older iPhone 16. The 128GB variant is now listed at Rs 89,900, compared with its earlier price of Rs 69,900. This represents a Rs 20,000 increase and makes the pricing change particularly unusual for a model that has already been succeeded by newer generations.

iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max Launched; Apple's Entry Into Foldable Smartphone Segment

The revised older-model prices come immediately after Apple's latest flagship launch. The company has introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, expanding its latest-generation lineup in India. The iPhone 18 Pro carries a starting price of Rs 1,64,900, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at Rs 1,79,900.

Apple has also entered the foldable smartphone segment with the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone. The launch adds a new premium category to Apple's product portfolio while the company continues to sell previous-generation models.
