Indian Apple users have got a big shock after the tech giant introduced sharpest mid-cycle price revisions in the company's history. MacBooks, iPads, Mac desktops, HomePods, and Apple TV have all become more expensive overnight, with hikes ranging from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 1 lakh depending on the model. India has been hit harder than almost any other market globally, and here is everything you need to know.

Why Has Apple Hiked Prices?
Apple has confirmed that the expansion of AI data centres has created an massive surge in demand for memory and storage components, causing a never seen before supply crunch.
Apple CEO Tim Cook warned ahead of the announcement that price increases were becoming unavoidable. The company said in a statement, "We have never seen a component price increase this much, this quickly."
Apple's announcement wiped out roughly $265 billion in market value as its shares fell over 6%which is company's worst single-day trading performance in more than a year.
Why India Is Hit Hardest
If the price hikes stung in the US, they have landed even harder in India. According to reports, Increases here have ranged from roughly Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 70,000 depending on the device, percentage hikes between 20% and 42% on some models even more than what buyers in the US or Europe are absorbing.
Apple products entering India already carry import duties and 18% GST stacked on top of the base price before any global component surcharge is added.
A MacBook Pro M4 Pro that costs roughly $1,999 in the United States already carries a street price exceeding Rs. 2,49,900 in India after taxes and that is before this latest revision.
MacBook Price Hike: New vs Old Prices in India
The MacBook Air 13-inch M5 has gone from Rs. 1,19,900 to Rs .1,49,900, an increase of Rs. 30,000. The MacBook Air 15-inch has risen from Rs. 1,44,900 to Rs. 1,79,900, up Rs. 35,000. The 14-inch MacBook Pro M5 with 16GB RAM has jumped from Rs. 1,69,900 to Rs. 2,39,900, a hike of Rs. 70,000. The 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by the M5 Max chip has seen the steepest hike of Rs. 1 lakh.
Even Apple's entry-level MacBook Neo has not been spared, rising from Rs. 69,900 to Rs. 79,900, a Rs. 10,000 hike.
Mac Desktop Price Hike
The Mac Mini M4 with 256GB storage has seen a sharp revision, moving from Rs. 59,900 to Rs. 94,900 an increase of Rs. 35,000.
iPad Price Hike: New vs Old Prices in India
The base 13-inch iPad Air now carries a price tag of Rs. 1,19,900, a steep 41.22% jump from its previous price of Rs. 84,900. This is among the sharpest percentage increases in the entire Apple India lineup.
Apple TV and HomePod Price Hike
The Apple TV 4K 64GB variant has jumped from Rs. 14,900 to Rs. 25,900, while the 128GB version has risen from Rs. 16,900 to Rs. 31,900. The HomePod is now priced at Rs. 44,900, up from ₹32,900 earlier. The HomePod mini has increased from Rs.10,900 to Rs.15,900.
iPhone Prices Unchanged For Now
Apple's iPhone lineup has been excluded from this round of price hikes. The iPhone 17 continues to sell at its launch price of Rs.82,900 for the base variant on Apple's official India website. However, Apple has not ruled out further increases.
