Apple's First India Store Goes Live; CEO Tim Cook Opens BKC Store, Meets Customers

After 25 years of doing business in India via partners, iconic consumer technology company Apple opened India's first retail location in Mumbai on Tuesday. Tim Cook, the company's CEO, welcomed the first group of visitors at precisely 11 a.m. by opening the doors of the store, which is housed in a shopping centre in the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) commercial area. Outside of the BKC store, a queue of Apple enthusiasts formed. Following the public opening of the store, CEO Tim Cook will meet with consumers there.

Customers would line up hours or even days in advance to be the first to acquire an Apple product in the majority of Apple stores in the past. When the most recent Apple iPhones are released, a similar spectacle might be anticipated. A queue of consumers has formed in front of the store since 6 AM, and some even claim to have been there since 8 PM on Monday.

The atmosphere here is just different, remarked one of the guests who travelled from Ahmedabad, a western industrial hub, to attend the event. It's not the same as shopping at a regular store. There simply isn't a comparison.

Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, arrived in India on Monday and will be very busy while there. Bollywood stars like Madhuri Dixit, Raveena Tandon, and even the composer A.R. Rahman welcomed Cook on Day 1. As the corporation commits to the Indian market by increasing production and market share, Cook is anticipated to meet with PM Modi.

According to the firm, the Apple Store at BKC is one of the most energy-efficient Apple Store locations in the entire globe. The company will have its own solar array and run entirely on renewable energy. The BKC store, according to the firm, is operationally carbon neutral because it only employs renewable energy.
