Are Banks Shut Tomorrow For Holika Dahan (March 16, 2022): Here’s The Clarification

Holi is primarily a two-day festival, so as many of you may be wondering whether or not banks will be open on Holika Dahan that falls on March 17, 2022 (Thursday). Here's the clarification:

As per the RBI's bank holiday list for March 2022, for Holika Dahan, banks are shut in Dehradun, Kanpur, Lucknow and Ranchi, implying banks will not be operational in Uttarakhand, UP and Jharkhand on the same day. So, as it is not a national holiday banks across the country shall not be shut.

Also, following March 17, 2022, there is holiday for Holi/Holi 2nd Day - Dhuleti/Doljatra. These holidays are allowed under the Negotiable Instruments Act. This is to rationalise public holidays within the banking industry.

Banks in India in a usual case do not work on Sundays and second and fourth Saturdays.
