Asia Flights Disrupted: 1600+ Flights Delayed, Nearly 100 Cancelled; Why & What Should Passengers Do?

Flying to Asian routes has taken a massive blow as more than 1,600 flights are delayed and nearly 100 cancelled as of now. Among key factors to impact these flights are bad weathers in certain regions and the ongoing war in the Middle East. Although, US and Iran have cooled off in missile attacks, Israel has continued to wage its war against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Among airports to be impacted are Delhi Airport, Mumbai Airport, Jakarta Airport along with airports in China and Japan.

Here are latest updates on flights cancellation and delay as of now, as per Travel And Tour World website which tracks flights across the world.

Flights Delayed & Cancelled:

As many as over 1,651 flights are delayed across 12 major airports of Asia. Meanwhile, 99 flights are reported to have been cancelled.

Most Affected Airports:

The Shanghai Pudong International Airport faced the highest level of disruption. Airlines like China Eastern, Air China, China Southern Airlines and Shanghai Airlines are significantly impacted. They recorded both heavy amount of delays and cancellations.

Also, carriers like Hong Kong Express Airways and EVA Air struggled in their operations due to cancellations and delays at the Hong Kong International Airport.

Airlines like Lion Air, Super Jet and Garuda Indonesia faced significant delays at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta which is one of the busiest airports in Southeast Asia.

In India, Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport also faced significant impact on its operations. Airlines like Indigo and Air India reported massive delays, while airlines like SpiceJet and Air India Express faced congestions.

Not too far away, Mumbai's popular, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport also recorded heavy delays, cancellations and congestions. The domestic airlines were impacted.

Also, in Bengaluru, Indigo and Air India faced delays while SpiceJet and other airlines faced cancellations. International airlines like Lufthansa and Virgin Atlantic struggled for timely takeoffs and landing at the Kempegowda Internation Airport.

Among other airports that are impacted included Singapore's Changi Airport and Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Why Asia Flights Are Impacted?

Among key factors that impacted flights operations in India is bad weather too. IMD has warned of rainfalls in certain states of north and south India. Also, heat wave warning is given in Kutch. Indigo Airline has been reporting about disruption in flight schedules at Bengaluru and Leh.

But one of the major reason is the challenges faced in the air traffic due to the ongoing Middle East war. Israel has continued to pound into Hezbollah bases in Lebanon, even after US and Iran entered into two weeks truce. Hezbollah has urged Lebanon government to initiate talks with Israel to halt their operations. Meanwhile, US and Iran's two weeks truce is fragile as both the countries have not come under terms of peaceful agreement for future days. US has imposed blockade at Strait of Hormuz.

Apart from this, the West Asia war has led to extreme damage to neighboring airports in Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and the UAE.

As per reports, Indian airlines have cancelled more than 10,000 flights since US and Israel attacked Iran on February 28, 2026.
