Ayodhya's Economic Boost: 15% Surge In Construction And Tourism Jobs Anticipated After Ram Mandir Inauguration

Ayodhya is set to experience an economic boom, with civil engineers poised to reap the benefits of a 15% surge in demand for construction jobs over the next two years. The inauguration of the Ram Temple by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to mark a turning point, transforming Ayodhya.

According to a report by Moneycontrol, the construction of the Ram Mandir has unleashed a wave of economic growth, leading to a substantial increase in demand for various construction-related positions. CIEL HR, a staffing firm, noted that approximately 22% of the overall jobs are related to engineering, with civil engineering roles such as MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) managers, execution amenity engineers, site supervisors, and site engineers taking centre stage.

Ayodhya, with its geographical expanse of about 120 square kilometres and a population of around 80,000, is set to become a major tourist attraction in India. The inauguration of the Ram Temple is expected to trigger a three-fold jump in construction activities, primarily concentrated around shopping hubs, hotels, and restaurants.

In addition to the construction boom, the surge in tourism is anticipated to have a ripple effect on various sectors, including hospitality, travel, and food and beverages. TeamLease Services VP Balasubramanian A predicts that the demand for skilled labour could potentially reach 30,000-50,000 jobs, depending on tourism growth and infrastructure development.

Furthermore, industry experts foresee a rise in employment opportunities within the local arts, crafts, and cultural sectors, owing to the cultural and religious significance of Ayodhya. Traditional artisans, performers, and individuals skilled in heritage conservation are expected to benefit from this surge.

Nilesh Dungarwal, co-founder and CEO of WorkIndia, told Moneycontrol that approximately 30,000 new employment opportunities within these sectors are contingent on the implementation of cultural initiatives and programs by local authorities in the coming year.

However, Dungarwal pointed out a potential challenge for Ayodhya in meeting the increased demand for skilled professionals. "Though traditionally, blue-collar workers are open to migrating for job opportunities, we expect more incoming blue and grey-collar workers moving to Ayodhya," he said.

Balasubramanian stressed the importance of local vocational training and skill development programs to bridge the gap between the demand for skilled professionals and the existing workforce. This, he believes, is crucial for sustaining economic growth and ensuring that Ayodhya's transformation into a vibrant economic and cultural centre is both successful and sustainable
