Bengaluru Power Cut: BESCOM Announces Maintenance Shutdown in Multiple Areas on Oct 15 &16: Check Now

Residents in several parts of Bangalore Rural district will face a major power outage this week, as the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company, BESCOM, has announced an 8-hour scheduled Bengaluru power cut on October 15. The power cut in Bengaluru will be implemented to carry out essential link line maintenance work at two key substations, Nagarghatta and Narasikatte.

According to BESCOM's Twitter notice, the planned Bengaluru power cut will begin at 10:00 am and continue until 6:00 pm, affecting multiple villages and residential areas across the region. Power will be restored once the technical and maintenance work is completed.

Reason for Bengaluru Power Cut

The Nagarghatta and Narasikatte substations will undergo major link line upgrade work to enhance power reliability and prevent unplanned outages in the coming months. As part of this process, engineers will perform maintenance checks, replace ageing components, and carry out testing procedures to make sure areas have better voltage stability and an uninterrupted power supply in the future.

List of Areas Affected by Power Outage

Bengaluru power cuts will be seen in the following localities that will experience the 8-hour electricity interruption on both days:
Hedagarahalli, Belagarahalli, Kannughatta, Nagarghatta, N. Melanahalli, Chikkamalali, Doddabelalu, Jakkalamadagu, Byadarahalli, Narasikatte, Kallanakuppe, Kadiganahalli, and surrounding villages.

Residents in these areas are advised to make necessary arrangements in advance, especially for water pumping, household chores, and business operations that rely heavily on electricity.

A BESCOM spokesperson stated that the Bengaluru power cut is very important to ensure maintenance work for a consistent and high-quality power supply to rural and semi-urban parts of Bangalore. The department also emphasised that such scheduled power cuts in Bengaluru are part of routine infrastructure upgrades to reduce technical losses and prevent unexpected failures.

Residents are advised to:

• Fully charge mobile phones, laptops, and inverters before 10 am.
• Store sufficient water for household use during the outage hours.
• Avoid using electrical appliances during voltage fluctuations once power is restored.
