The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cold wave warning for several districts of Karnataka, even as Bengaluru is expected to experience cloudy skies, light rain and slightly cooler conditions over the next few days. The alert comes amid changing weather patterns influenced by a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Mannar.
Bangalore Weather Alert: IMD Predicts Rains in Bangalore, Cloud Cover to Persist Till January 15
Light rain was reported in parts of Bengaluru on Monday evening, January 12, 2026, and meteorologists expect intermittent drizzle and overcast conditions to continue across the city in the near term.

According to IMD forecasts, scattered light showers are likely in Bengaluru for the next two to three days, particularly during the late afternoon and evening hours. Many localities may experience overcast skies, along with misty or hazy conditions during early mornings.
Weather models suggest that cloudy conditions could persist until at least January 15, with residents likely to feel a slight chill during early mornings and late evenings. However, rainfall intensity is expected to remain mostly light, with brief spells rather than prolonged showers.
No Cold Wave Expected in Bengaluru for Now
Despite the cold wave warning for other parts of Karnataka, the IMD has clarified that Bengaluru is unlikely to experience cold wave conditions at present. Minimum temperatures in the city are expected to remain around normal levels until at least January 15.
Daytime maximum temperatures are forecast to range between 24°C and 26°C, keeping conditions relatively comfortable. The slight dip in night temperatures, combined with cloud cover, may enhance the feeling of coolness during non-daylight hours.
Cyclonic Circulation Influencing Weather in Bangalore and Karnataka
The current change in weather has been attributed to a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Mannar, located off the Tamil Nadu coast. This system is positioned around one kilometre above mean sea level.
IMD officials noted that if the circulation strengthens over the next few days, it could trigger heavier rainfall in parts of southern India, though Bengaluru is expected to see only light to moderate showers. The department added that dry weather is likely to return after January 16, 2026.
Bengaluru Weather Forecast for Tuesday, January 13
Weather conditions in Bengaluru on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, are expected to remain comfortable and largely dry, with only trace rainfall indicated in forecasts. Skies will stay partly cloudy, and temperatures are likely to be warm but not harsh.
Air quality is expected to remain in the 'Moderate' category, similar to the previous day, with gradual improvement as surface winds pick up. Residents sensitive to air pollution are advised to remain cautious, especially near high-traffic areas during peak hours.
Bengaluru Temperature Today
According to the latest forecast, Bengaluru's maximum temperature is expected to touch 27.9°C, while the minimum may dip to around 17.2°C, resulting in an average temperature of approximately 22.4°C.
Humidity levels are predicted to hover around 66 per cent, noticeable but not uncomfortable. Wind speeds may reach up to 19.8 kmph, which should help improve ventilation and prevent the weather from feeling humid or sticky.
The day is expected to begin after sunrise at 6:45 AM with a mild chill, gradually warming into a pleasant afternoon before cooling again in the evening. Commuters and families can largely plan outdoor activities as usual, though carrying light rain protection may be advisable during afternoon hours.
