Banganga Paper Industries has been renamed Asgard Alcobev, shifting focus to the alcoholic beverages market after acquiring a majority stake in CMJ Breweries. This strategic move aims to enhance operational efficiency and support future growth initiatives.
Banganga Paper Industries, based in Maharashtra, has been rebranded as Asgard Alcobev. This change marks its shift towards the alcoholic beverages market. The company recently acquired a 78.9% stake in CMJ Breweries, a prominent contract brewing facility in Northeast India. CMJ Breweries has significant capacity and serves major Indian and international beer brands.

CMJ Breweries, located in Shillong, Meghalaya, partners with renowned brewing brands like Kingfisher United Breweries, Carlsberg, Tuborg Carlsberg India, and Asia 72 Mohan Meakin. A company statement confirmed the name change from Banganga Paper Industries Ltd to Asgard Alcobev Ltd, highlighting its new strategic focus.
Strategic Shifts and Growth Plans
Last week, shareholders approved changes at an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM). These included amending the Memorandum of Association (MoA) and increasing authorised share capital. This move aims to provide financial flexibility for future growth and strategic investments. Additionally, the name change and office relocation from Nashik, Maharashtra, to Shillong, Meghalaya were approved.
The relocation aligns with the company's operational focus in the northeast region. It is expected to enhance administrative and operational efficiencies. The Indian beer market is projected to be worth approximately Rs 48,310 crore in 2024. It is anticipated to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 10% from 2025 to 2034.
Market Outlook and Future Prospects
By 2034, the Indian beer market is estimated to reach Rs 1.24 lakh crore. This promising industry outlook offers a substantial growth opportunity for Asgard Alcobev Ltd. The company is poised to leverage this potential through its strategic initiatives and investments in the alcoholic beverages sector.
The company's strategic direction reflects its commitment to capitalising on emerging opportunities within the alcoholic beverages segment. By focusing on this sector, Asgard Alcobev Ltd aims to strengthen its market position and drive sustainable growth in the coming years.
