Is November 24 a Bank Holiday for Guru Nanak Jayanti?
Guru Nanak Jayanti falls on Tuesday, November 24, 2026. The occasion is included in the published holiday calendars for several states and locations, including Delhi, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Telangana.
However, the holiday is not observed uniformly across every state. For example, Karnataka's published 2026 holiday calendar lists Balipadyami/Deepavali on November 10 and Kanakadasa Jayanti on November 27, but does not list Guru Nanak Jayanti as a state bank holiday.
Therefore, customers in Bengaluru should not assume that all bank branches will be closed on November 24. They should check the applicable RBI holiday notification for their city and the relevant bank's branch information.
Will UPI, NEFT, RTGS and Mobile Banking Work on Bank Holidays?
Yes. Most digital banking services remain available on regular bank holidays.
UPI transactions generally continue around the clock, including Sundays and bank holidays, subject to bank, application and network availability. Even NEFT, RTGS, IMPS operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, allowing customers to transfer funds electronically even when branches are closed.
Customers can generally access account information, transfer funds and use supported online services without visiting a branch.
However, services requiring physical documentation, branch verification, cash handling or other in-person assistance may have to wait until the branch reopens.
