Bank Holiday 2024: Banks will be closed in certain cities on Thursday, November 7, 2024, due to the celebration of Chhath Puja in India. Not only that banks are in for a long weekend, but Bank holidays vary from city to city, and hence, chances are that not all banks in India will be shut. Some would be operational too. Bank Holiday On November 7, 2024:
As per the RBI list, banks will be closed on November 7th due to Chhath (Evening Arghya), That being said, banks will be closed in cities like Kolkata, Patna, and Ranchi on Thursday. Remaining other cities, banks will be opened.
Chhath Puja 2024:
Chhath is an ancient Indo-Nepalese Hindu festival, native to Nepal and East India. Also, it is the sixth form of Prakriti and Surya's sister, is worshipped during the festival. It is celebrated six days after Deepavali, or Tihar, on the sixth day of the lunar month of Kartika (October or November) in the Hindu calendar (Vikram Samvat), and hence why it is called Surya Shashti Vrata, as per Wikipedia.
Going ahead, banks will also be closed on Friday in some parts of India, while all banks are scheduled to close on second Saturday and Sunday.
On November 8, banks will be closed for Chhath (Morning Arghya)/Wangala Festival. On this day, banks will be closed in cities like Patna, Ranchi. and Shillong.
Further, Since November 9th is the second Saturday of the month, banks will be closed all over India. As per the latest rule, second Saturday is bank holiday by default. Lastly, all banks are closed in India as Sunday, November 10 is a default holiday.

A pop up will open with all listed sites, select the option “ALLOW“, for the respective site under the status head to allow the notification.
Once the changes is done, click on the “Save Changes” option to save the changes.
