As per the RBI list of holidays for February 2025, banks will be closed on February 12 due to Sant Ravidas Jayanti/General Election to Local Councils 2025.

Guru Ravidass Jayanti is the birthday of Ravidas, celebrated on Magh Purnima, the full moon day in the month of Magh month. It is the annual focal point for the festival in India; People across countries celebrate this special occasion in India. Also, devotees take a holy dip in the river to perform rites. He is known as a spiritual man and a social reformer because of his work against casteism. He was contemporary to Saint Kabir, as per Wikipedia.

Meanwhile, the Mizoram government has announced the process of General Election to Village Councils, 2025 and Local Councils, 2025 started. The Model Code of Conduct has come into force within Village Council areas of Aizawl, Lunglei, Serchhip, Champhai, Mamit, Kolasib, Saitual, Khawzawl, Hnahthial District and also within Aizawl Municipal Corporation and Lunglei Municipal Council area from now till completion of the Election process i.e. 15th February 2025.

The date of the poll for the above-mentioned election is set on February 12.

However, banks will not be closed in every city in India on February 12. As per the list, banks will be closed in cities like Aizawl, Kanpur, Lucknow, and Shimla.

Bank holidays in India 2025, vary from state-to-state and city-to-city, though there are numerous Public Holidays in the year 2025 which are applicable throughout the country. Some of these holidays include Republic Day (Jan 26), Independence Day (Aug 15) and Gandhi Jayanti (Oct 2). Apart from these, there are important religious and festival holidays such as Diwali, Dussehra, Christmas, Eid, Guru Nanak Jayanthi, Good Friday, Ganesh Chaturthi, Budh Purnima etc.

When banks are closed, digital services like internet banking, mobile banking, and UPI payment is available. Also, ATM services are fully operational, however, the availability may vary from location to location.

Apart from special holidays every month, banks are closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month in addition to the above-mentioned bank holidays. The fifth Saturday of a month with five Saturdays is a working day for banks. In the past, banks would only open for a half-day on Saturdays.
