Banks are closed in the majority of cities in India due to the celebration of the last day of Onam and Eid-e-Milad on August 26. These banks include both private and public banks such as SBI, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Punjab National Bank, Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, Union Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, and Canara Bank among others. Bank Holiday On August 26 2026:

On this day, banks will be closed for Id-E-Milad, Baravafat, Milad-un-Nabi (Birthday of Prophet Mohammad) and Thiruvonam.

SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and other private and public banks will be closed in cities like Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Dehradun, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jammu, Kochi, Kanpur, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, and Vijayawada.

However, banks are open in cities like Agartala, Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Gangtok, Guwahati, Itanagar, Jaipur, Kohima, Kolkata, Panaji, Shillong, and Shimla.

Eid-e-Milad, or Eid Milad un Nabi, is a cherished Muslim festival celebrated throughout India.
