Indian scheduled banks are up for a long holiday week starting from March 30th to April 3rd due to celebrations of festivals like Mahavir Jayanti and Good Friday during the week. Apart from this, banks will be shut due to the closing of yearly accounts and Maundy Thursday. RBI decides holidays of banks but they vary from state to state depending upon the deep-rooted culture and traditions. In simple words, banks will be closed for four days in a row.

Since the financial year 2025-26 is ending on March 31, 2026, RBI has directed all agency banks that handle government transactions to be operational on March 31. Meanwhile, April 1st is the annual closing day for bank accounts. And accordingly, all scheduled banks end their financial year-end processes and account settlements, which is why branches will not be available for financial transactions to the public on April 1.
