Banks are in for a holiday-packed week with many occasions lined up from September 23 to September 29. Banks in many parts of India are likely to be closed for at least four days, starting from Monday. However, the holidays vary from city to city, and not every bank will be closed all over India. So in case, if you are planning to visit your bank's branch for any financial transaction, then check whether they are open or closed on any of these days of the current week.
September 23:
Banks will be closed due to the occasion of the Birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji. However, banks are closed only in Jammu and Srinagar. In other cities, banks will be operational.
September 24:
There is no special holiday for banks on this day, and hence, it will be a working day.
September 25:
RBI has allowed bank holidays for General Elections to the State Legislative Assembly 2024.
The legislative assembly elections have kickstarted from September 18 to October 1, 2024, in three phases in Jammu and Kashmir. The election is for the 90-member seat. The votes will be counted and the results will be out on October 8, 2024.
This is the first election since the territory's special status was revoked and its statehood withdrawn in 2019, as per RBI.
However, as per RBI's list, banks will be closed only in Srinagar. In the rest part of the country, banks will continue to be operational.
September 26, September 27:
All banks are working on these two days.
September 28:
Since September 29 is the fourth Saturday of the month, both private and PSU banks will be closed on this day.
September 29:
Because September 29 is a Sunday, banks have a holiday by default all over India.
