The coming week includes a fifth Saturday on May 31st, however, banks will be open on this day. Special occasions like the birthday of Kazi Nazrul Islam and Maharana Pratap Jayanti will be celebrated in several cities of India.
Bank Holiday On May 26:
Banks will be closed on May 26th, Monday, due to the celebration of the birthday of Kazi Nazrul Islam. Bank branches will not be open in Agartala. Banks will be operating as normal in other metro cities.
Bank Holiday On May 29:
On this day, banks will be closed due to the celebration of Maharana Pratap Jayanti. Northern cities like Shimla will be celebrating this occasion, hence, banks will be closed here.

Banks Open or Not on May 31?
May 31st falls as the fifth Saturday of the month. However, as per RBI guidelines, all scheduled and non-scheduled banks will observe public holiday on second and fourth Saturdays. That being said, banks will be open on the coming Saturday.
Bank Holiday On June 1st?
Banks will be closed on June 1st as it is a Sunday, which is a default holiday for all banks in India.
Bank Holidays In May 2025:
In May 2025, there are total of six special holidays. These are Maharashtra Din/ May Day on May 1st, followed by Rabindranath Tagore birthday celebration on May 9, Buddha Purnima on May 12th, Sikkim State Day on May 16th, Birthday of Kazi Nazrul Islam on May 26th, and lastly Maharana Pratap Jayanti on May 29th.
These holidays are excluding second and fourth Saturdays and all Sundays.

Kazi Nazrul Islam was a Bengali poet, short story writer, journalist, lyricist and musician. He is the national poet of Bangladesh. Nazrul produced a large body of poetry, music, messages, novels, and stories with themes, that included equality, justice, anti-imperialism, humanity, rebellion against oppression and religious devotion. Nazrul Islam's activism for political and social justice as well as writing a poem titled as "Bidrohī", meaning "the rebel" in Bengali, earned him the title of "Bidrohī Kôbi" (Rebel Poet). His compositions form the avant-garde music genre of Nazrul Gīti (Music of Nazrul), as per Wikipedia.
Maharana Pratap Jayanti 2025:
Maharana Pratap Jayanti, also known as Maharana Pratap Jayanti, is a festival and a public holiday in Rajasthan, marking the birth anniversary of the Indian ruler Maharana Pratap. Pratap Jayanti is a public holiday in Rajasthan, where the day is celebrated with special Pujas and celebrations in Udaipur and Chittorgarh with processions and rallies in honor of Maharana Pratap. The day is also a public holiday in Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, as per Wikipedia.
These two special occasions are the last two holidays of May 2025.
