Bank Holidays 2025: Indian scheduled banks will be closed for four days between April 21-30th. Some of the major reasons why banks will be shut are Garia Puja, Bhagavan Shri Parshuram Jayanti, and Basava Jayanti/Akshaya Tritiya. Apart from this, the fourth Saturday is also a bank holiday. Bank Holiday On April 21:

Banks are closed on April 21 due to celebration of Garia Puja on April 21. Banks will be closed in cities like Agartala and other regions of Tripura.

Bank Holiday On April 26th:

Banks are closed on April 26th due to the fourth Saturday. Since September 2015, RBI has declared that all scheduled and non-scheduled banks - public, private, foreign, cooperative, regional rural and local area banks - will observe public holidays on second and fourth Saturdays.

Hence, all banks will be closed on the fourth Saturday.

Bank Holiday On April 29:

On this day, banks will be closed in Shimla due to the celebration of Bhagavan Shri Parshuram Jayanti.

Bank Holiday on April 30:

The last day of April is also a bank holiday for cities like Bengaluru due to the celebration of Basava Jayanti/Akshaya Tritiya.

Garia Puja 2025:

A key festival in Tripura, Baba Garia puja, is celebrated for the seven days and night. The festival usually appears during the month of Boishakh Bisi-kwtal. There are other popular names to Garia Puja such as Buisu, Bihu, Busy, Boisabi, Sangrain.

During this festival, devotees sacrifice chicken for ritual purpose in Tripuri community. It is one of the important festivals in Hinduism as it is the birth anniversary of the sixth avatar of Vishnu. Lord Parshuram Jayanti is celebrated when Tritiya prevails during Pradosh Kaal since it is that Lord Parshurama was born during that period. This avatar came into existence to terminate destructive and sinful monarchs that burdened the Earth. Hence, worshipping God on this auspic day will prove to be beneficial. A lot of devotees take a bath in the holy Ganga river on Parshu Jayanti as it is considered to be a sacred ritual to be performed on such religious festivals. It is believed that Lord Vishnu incarnated as Parshurama in human form to destroy the evil on this planet, as per the Utsav government website.

Basava Jayanti 2025:

Basava Jayanthi is a holiday traditionally observed by the Lingayats of the Indian state of Karnataka. It marks the birthday of Basavanna, a 12th-century poet-philosopher and the founding saint of the Lingayat tradition. The holiday is celebrated throughout South India, primarily in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, as per Wikipedia.

Akshaya Tritiya 2025:

Akshaya Tritiya which is also known as Akha Teej is a highly auspicious and holy day for Hindu communities. It falls during Shukla Paksha Tritiya in the month of Vaishakha. Akshaya Tritiya falling on a Rohini Nakshatra day with Wednesday is considered very auspicious. Akshaya Tritiya is believed to bring good luck and success. Most people purchase Gold on this day as it is believed that buying Gold on Akshaya Tritiya brings prosperity and more wealth in coming future.
