Bank Holidays Gudi Padwa, EID, Biju, Ugadi 2024: Banks Will Be Closed For Five Days This Week; City-Wise List!

Banks are in for a very-long weekend, to be precisely a long-list of five days holiday starting from April 9. However, these bank holidays vary from city to city. If you're planning to visit your bank's branch, you might want to check if they're open or not. Here is the list of bank holidays this week.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) decides the holidays for Indian banks. The holidays are categorised into three such as -- Holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act; Holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday; and Banks' Closing of Accounts.

The 5-days holiday this week is under the Negotiable Instruments Act.

April 9:

Banks are closed due to the celebration of Gudhi Padwa/Ugadi Festival/Telugu New Year's Day/Sajibu Nongmapanba (Cheiraoba)/and 1st Navratra.

On Tuesday, banks are closed in cities like Belapur, Bengaluru, Chennai, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Imphal, Jammu, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji, and Srinagar.

April 10:

Banks will be closed in some cities of India on April 10 due to the celebration of Ramzan-Id (Id-Ul-Fitr). These cities are Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.

April 11:

While majority of banks across the country will be closed due to the nationwide celebration of Ramzan-Id (Id-Ul-Fitr) (1st Shawaal).

These cities are Agartala, Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Bhopal, Chennai, Dehradun, Guwahati, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Imphal, Jaipur, Itanagar, Kanpur, Kohima, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Panaji, Patna, Raipur, Shillong, Ranchi, and Srinagar.

April 13:

Apart from being the second Saturday, banks will be closed on April 13th also due to Bohag Bihu/Cheiraoba/Baisakhi/Biju Festival.

Banks will be closed in cities like Agartala, Guwahati, Imphal, Jammu, and Srinagar.

April 14:

Banks will be closed on Sunday, April 15 by default.

It is important to note that banks will remain shut for 14 days in April, 2024, as per information available in the RBI calendar.
