Bank Holidays In July 2026: SBI, HDFC, ICICI, Other Banks To Be Closed For 12 Days This Month; City-Wise List
# Bank Holidays In July 2026: SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank And Other Banks To Remain Closed For Up To 12 Days; Check State-Wise Schedule
Bank customers across India should plan their visits carefully in July as banks will remain closed for up to 12 days during the month. The holidays include weekly offs, national observances and state-specific festivals, in line with the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) holiday calendar.

The closures will affect branches of all major public and private sector banks, including the State Bank of India (SBI), HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Punjab National Bank (PNB), Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, Axis Bank, Union Bank of India and other scheduled lenders. However, the exact number of holidays will vary depending on the state, as several festivals are observed only in specific regions.
Customers are advised to check the holiday calendar applicable to their state before planning branch visits, particularly if they need to complete time-sensitive banking work such as cash deposits, cheque clearances, demand drafts, loan documentation or KYC-related formalities.
The RBI classifies bank holidays under different categories, including holidays notified under the Negotiable Instruments Act, state-specific festivals, and the mandatory weekly closures on Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. As a result, banks in one state may remain open while branches in another state are closed for a local festival.
July is expected to witness several regional holidays across different parts of the country. Depending on the state, banks may remain shut for festivals and observances such as Kharchi Puja, Guru Hargobind Ji's Birthday, Beh Deinkhlam, Harela, Ker Puja, Drukpa Tshe-zi, Bhanu Jayanti and other local celebrations. In addition, banks across the country will remain closed on all Sundays as well as the second and fourth Saturdays.
Although physical branches will remain closed on designated holidays, customers will continue to have access to digital banking services. Internet banking, mobile banking applications, Unified Payments Interface (UPI), Immediate Payment Service (IMPS), National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT), Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS), debit cards, credit cards and ATM services will remain operational throughout the month.
This means customers can transfer funds, pay utility bills, recharge mobile phones, make merchant payments, withdraw cash from ATMs and access most routine banking services even when branches are closed.
However, services that require in-person verification or branch assistance may not be available during holidays. These include opening certain types of accounts, processing demand drafts, document submissions, locker-related services and cash-intensive business transactions. Customers are therefore encouraged to complete such tasks on working days.
Businesses, traders and individuals who regularly deal with banking transactions should also keep the holiday schedule in mind while planning payments and settlements. Since cheque processing and some branch-based services may be delayed on holidays, scheduling important financial transactions in advance can help avoid last-minute inconvenience.
The RBI releases separate holiday calendars for different states because several bank holidays are based on local festivals and regional events. As a result, not every holiday applies nationwide. Customers should therefore refer to the holiday list for their respective state before visiting a branch.
For most routine banking needs, digital platforms continue to offer uninterrupted access even during holidays. With widespread availability of online and mobile banking, customers can complete a majority of transactions without visiting a physical branch.
If you have important banking work planned in July, checking your bank's holiday schedule beforehand can help you avoid unnecessary trips and ensure your transactions are completed on time.
