Bank Holiday on May Day, Maharashtra Diwas, Labour Day

Banks will remain shut on 1 May, on the occasion of May Day, Maharashtra Diwas, or Labour Day in Belapur, Bengaluru, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad (Andhra PRadesh & Telangana), Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji, Patna and Thiruvananthapuram regions.

Bank Holiday on Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti

To mark the birth anniversary of renowned litterateur Rabindranath Tagore, all state, private, cooperative, agriculture and other banks falling under the Kolkata region will remain shut on May 9, Wednesday.

Bank Holiday on Buddha Pournima

There will be a bank holiday in multiple regions across India on the occasion of Buddha Pournima, also known as Buddha Purnima, on May 16. Banks will remain closed in Agartala, Aizawl, Belapur, Bhopal, Dehradun, Itanagar, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla, and Srinagar on Buddha Purnima.

To commemorate the formation of Sikkim as the 22nd state of India in 1975, all government, private, state-owned, cooperative, agriculture and other banks will remain shut on May 16. Sikkim was formed on the day of he thirty-sixth amendment of the Indian constitution in 1975.

Bank Holiday on Birthday of Kazi Nazrul Islam

All banks will remain shut in the Agartala region to mark the birth anniversary of Kazi Nazrul Islam on May 26. Kazi Nazrul Islam was a renowned Bengali poet who gained immense popularity in India and Bangladesh with his artistic creations.

All banks will remain closed in Shimla region on Maharana Pratap Jayanti, falling on May 29. Maharana Pratap was the king of the Kingdom of Mewar, who successfully resisted the conquest by Mughal emperors.
