Bank Holidays 2025: Apart from being closed on second and fourth Saturdays alongside all Sundays, banks also enjoy holidays on special occasions such as festivals or major events. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) decides bank holidays for every month. In November 2025, banks got special holidays for festivals like Guru Nanak Jayanti, Kartika Purnima, Dev Diwali, and Wangala Festival and even had a holiday for phase 1 polls of the Bihar election 2025. That being said, which days are banks opened or closed in the next week?
Bank Holiday On November 8:
Firstly, banks are closed on Saturday, November 8 for two reasons. Banks are closed in cities like Bengaluru due to the celebration of Kanakadasa Jayanthi. But in general terms, all banks in India including foreign, co-operative and regional banks are closed due to second Saturday.
Saturday Bank Holiday:
As per RBI's guidelines, all scheduled and non-scheduled banks - public, private, foreign, cooperative, regional rural and local area banks - are directed to observe public holiday on second and fourth Saturdays, and observe full working days on Saturdays other than second and fourth Saturdays. This has been in effect since September 1, 2015. If there are five Saturdays in a month, then banks are opened on fifth Saturday.
