Bank Holidays Next Week, September 21-27, 2026: Banks To Be Closed On These Days; Check City-Wise List

Bank customers who are planning branch visits between September 21 and September 27, 2026 should be aware of the bank holiday schedule ahead. Several bank branches will be closed during the week due to regional festivals.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar follows a centre-specific system, which means that a holiday applicable in one city or state does not necessarily mean bank branches across the country will be closed.

Here is the complete day-wise list of bank holidays for the week:

September 21
On Monday, bank branches in Guwahati will be closed for the Janmotsav of Srimanta Sankardeva. Banks in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram will also observe a holiday for Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi.

September 22:
On Tuesday, bank branches in Ranchi will be closed on account of Karma Puja, a regional festival observed in Jharkhand.

September 23
On Wednesday, in Jammu and Srinagar a bank holiday will be observed for the Birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji.

September 24
No bank holiday on Thursday in the RBI-based schedule for the week. Bank branches should therefore operate normally.

September 25:
On Friday, bank branches in Gangtok will be closed for Indrajatra, a festival observed in Sikkim.

September 26 And 27:
Banks Closed Across India will be closed on this day since September 26 is the fourth Saturday of the month and the normal closure on Sunday.

Will UPI, ATMs And Internet Banking Work On Bank Holidays?

Despite the physical branches being closed, customers can still continue to use UPI, mobile banking, internet banking and ATMs on bank holidays. Electronic payment services can generally be accessed as usual.

However, transactions or services that require a physical branch visit may have to wait until the branch reopens.
