However, these holidays will vary from state to state due to events, festivals, and cultures. Major banks like SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Canara Bank, IndusInd Bank, Axis Bank, Union Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, and Bank of Baroda, among other private, public, regional, and foreign banks, will be closed.

Banks will be closed in cities like Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji, and Vijayawada due to the celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi/Ganesh Puja/Varasiddhi Vinayaka Vrata/Vinayakar Chathurthi/Hartalika on September 14.

Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival that pays homage to Lord Ganesh, the remover of obstacles, and celebrates the day of his birth. Many recognize that Lord Ganesh brings order in this universe and worship him before embarking on a new endeavor, intellectual journey, or business enterprise. Therefore, it is common to see images or statues of him in these places. Hartalika Teej 2026:

Of the three Teej vrats that mark the monsoon months, Hartalika Teej is the hardest and the holiest. Hariyali Teej is joy. Kajari Teej is longing. Hartalika Teej is tapasya - a full day and night without a grain of food or a drop of water, kept in memory of the penance Parvati performed on the banks of the Ganga so that she could marry Shiva and no one else. Naukhai 2026:

Nuakhai is an agricultural festival mainly observed by people of Western Odisha in India. Nuakhai is observed to welcome the new rice of the season. According to the calendar it is observed on panchami tithi of the lunar fortnight of the month of Bhadrapada or Bhadraba, the day after the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, as per Wikipedia.
