Bank Strike Impact: SBI ATM Charges Waived From Sept 28; Customers Can Use Any Bank ATM; Check Helpline Number
State Bank of India (SBI) has announced a temporary ATM charge waiver for its customers ahead of the proposed three-day bank strike from September 28 to September 30, 2026. During this period, SBI customers will be able to withdraw cash from ATMs operated by any bank across India without paying transaction charges.
SBI ATM Charges Waived From September 28 To 30
The waiver will be available nationwide for the entire three-day strike period. This means SBI customers can use both SBI ATMs and other banks' ATMs for their cash requirements without SBI levying transaction charges during these dates.

Normally, ATM transactions are subject to monthly free-transaction limits, after which charges may apply depending on the type of transaction, ATM and applicable banking rules. The temporary waiver removes the concern of SBI customers incurring such charges during the specified strike window.
The temporary measure is aimed at ensuring continued access to cash if branch operations are affected during the strike. SBI has also asked customers to make greater use of its digital banking and remote service channels during the period.
The facility could be particularly useful for customers who need cash for household expenses, local purchases, small-business payments or other requirements while some branch-based services may be disrupted.
SBI Customers Can Use Any Bank ATM During Strike
SBI customers will not have to depend only on the bank's own ATM network during the three-day period. If an SBI ATM is unavailable or crowded, customers can use a nearby ATM operated by another bank.
The move gives customers an additional option to access cash without having to visit a branch. However, customers should still exercise normal caution while withdrawing cash and check the transaction details displayed on the ATM screen.
SBI Digital Banking Services To Continue From 28 to 30 September
SBI has also highlighted its digital and remote banking facilities for customers during the proposed strike. Customers can continue using YONO, mobile banking, internet banking and WhatsApp Banking for several routine banking requirements.
These channels can help customers check account balances, transfer funds and access various account-related services without visiting a physical branch. For customers who do not need cash, using digital banking facilities could therefore reduce the need to visit a branch during the strike period.
Bank Strike Impact on SBI UPI, IMPS, NEFT And RTGS Services
Digital payment and fund-transfer systems will also continue to be available. SBI customers can use UPI, IMPS, NEFT and RTGS for their payment and transfer requirements, subject to the applicable rules and transaction limits.
UPI and IMPS are commonly used for instant transfers, while NEFT and RTGS can be used for bank-to-bank fund transfers, including larger transactions where applicable.
Customers making time-sensitive payments should check beneficiary details, transaction limits and any applicable processing or cut-off requirements before initiating a transfer.
SBI Helpline Number: 24x7 Contact Centre To Remain Available
SBI has also said its 24x7 contact centre will remain operational during the proposed strike period. Customers requiring assistance can contact the bank on 1800 1234 or 1800 2100. The contact centre can provide support for account-related queries, digital banking assistance and information about available banking services.
