Amid Bharat Bandh on January 8, banking operations are likely to be affected too as many unions have decided on joining the all-India strike. This is in protest against the economic policies of Narendra Modi led BJP government.
Bank Strike On January 8 Amid Bharat Bandh
In some of the places, bank branches shall remain closed and there will be disruption in banking services. Nonetheless, while work requiring physical visits to bank branches shall be affected butt online facilities can still be availed as December 16 onwards NEFT has also been made 24*7.
There is varying view on the effect of the likely strike, while SBI hails that services are likely to be affected only to a limited extent. But Bank of Baroda on the contrary said that its operations shall take a hit. At the same it is taking necessary steps to ensure services are rendered smoothly.
Last month too on the day of general strike, five of the UFBU members had gone for a strike as a protest against banking reforms and PSU bank merger.
