BASF to Establish Global Digital Hub in Hyderabad by First Quarter of 2026
BASF is set to open a global Digital Hub in Hyderabad in early 2026, enhancing its digital service capabilities and standardising operations across its network.
BASF, a leading chemicals company, announced plans to establish a global Digital Hub in Hyderabad by early 2026. This new hub will enhance BASF's existing network of Digital Hubs located in Europe and Asia. These hubs are centres of digital expertise that provide standardised digital services to BASF's global operations.

Dirk Elvermann, BASF SE's Chief Financial Officer and Chief Digital Officer, highlighted Hyderabad's potential as an ideal location for this hub. The city offers the necessary attributes for a state-of-the-art Digital Hub with international reach. Elvermann emphasised the importance of seamless collaboration between the new Indian hub and existing global hubs to ensure excellent service delivery.
Focus on Core Business Value
BASF aims to standardise its digital portfolio, focusing on areas that maximise value for its core businesses. This strategic move will involve structural changes within the company. The Global Digital Services division plans to significantly reduce its workforce globally by 2030, including positions in Ludwigshafen.
Dietrich Spandau, President of Global Digital Services, expressed satisfaction with the swift launch and sustainable growth of the Hyderabad hub. "I am pleased that we can launch the hub so quickly and ramp it up sustainably," he stated. Preparations for the hub's opening are already underway.
Strategic Workforce Adjustments
The company also plans to decrease the number of sites where digital specialists are based. All these measures will be executed responsibly, respecting existing co-determination rights, which involve both managers and workers in key decision-making processes.
Alexander Gerding, Head of BASF Group Companies in India, noted that the Hyderabad Digital Hub will integrate into BASF’s established presence in India. The company already has manufacturing and research activities in the country, further strengthening its footprint.
Immediate Hiring Initiatives
BASF has initiated hiring and operational activities under its new Indian entity, BASF Digital Solutions Private Limited. This step marks a significant milestone in expanding their digital capabilities in India.
The establishment of this hub signifies BASF's commitment to enhancing its digital infrastructure globally while leveraging India's growing technological landscape. The company's strategic focus remains on delivering competitive digital services worldwide.
