BCCI T20I Cricket Squad For England, IRES Series! Shreyas In, Suryakumar Out, Vaibhav Suryavanshi Gets Spot

BCCI Announces T20 International Squad: BCCI, on Saturday, announced the final team for the T20 International series against England and Ireland. Suryakumar Yadav was removed from the captaincy of the T20I squad, with Shreyas Iyer replacing him as the new T20I skipper. Vaibhav Suryavanshi emerged as the biggest highlight of the BCCI announcement as he earned a maiden call-up.

Sooryavanshi became the youngest cricket ever selected for the international series. Before him, legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar held the record after he was selected at the age of 16. Tilak Varma has been named as the vice-captain of the side.

Shreyas Iyer has a strong captaincy record. He led Kolkata Knight Riders to IPL glory in 2024. He also led Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings to finals. He scored 604 runs in IPL 2025. He also scored 498 runs in IPL 2026.

India T20I Schedule

The team will travel to Ireland first, where the men in blue will play two matches in Belfast. The T20I matches are scheduled for June 26 and June 28. The team is scheduled to move to England and play five matches against England.

The next leg of the T20I series against England will start on July 1 and conclude on July 11.

BCCI Press Conference: Shreyas Iyer Is New T20I Captain

The senior selection committee chaired by Ajit Agarkar picked the squads for the tours of the Ireland and England coupled with Asian Games. The committee picked Shreyas Iyer as the new India T20I captain. Iyer replaced Suryakumar Yadav who failed to find a spot at the squad altogether. Tilak Varma was elevated as vice captain. Jasprit Bumrah wasn't picked for the T20I against England and IReland, but he was include in the Asian Games squad. The cricket match in Asian Games will be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. Mohammed Siraj made way for Bumrah and Prince Yadav in the 15-member squad for the multi-games event.
