Defence technology MoU: BEL, Metamind and Kristellar to co-develop AI and aerospace systems
State-run defence firm BEL, Metamind Systems Private Ltd and Kristellar Aerospace Private Ltd signed a three-party MoU on Monday. The agreement set out plans to jointly develop products and technologies for defence and civilian use. BEL said the tie-up focused on sharing strengths across manufacturing, technology work and delivery support.

BEL said the MoU aimed to use each partner’s core skills in business support and technical innovation. The firms planned to work together on future-ready offerings for Indian users. The statement said the joint approach would help shape scalable solutions for more than one sector.
BEL MoU targets Make in India and indigenous capability
According to BEL, the partnership aimed to build local capability and support the Government of India’s Make in India initiative. The companies planned cooperation in advanced technology development, manufacturing and supply work. Areas included aerospace and defence systems, along with electronic modules and sub-systems meant for Indian defence and non-defence segments.
The scope also covered cyber security, data centres and related systems. BEL said mass manufacturing of semiconductor technologies formed part of the plan. The partners expected the arrangement to support both defence needs and wider industrial uses across India.
BEL MoU brings Metamind and Kristellar roles into focus
Metamind is an Indian technology firm that works on AI-driven data analytics and digital transformation solutions. Kristellar is an Indian aerospace and defence technology startup. Kristellar is engaged in the design, development and manufacture of mission-critical products, systems and solutions in aerospace and defence technologies.
BEL said the partners would combine different capabilities to improve delivery. BEL brought manufacturing capacity and marketing reach. Metamind contributed strategic government relations, project governance and operational management. Kristellar added advanced R&D capability and systems engineering, which BEL said could reduce execution risks and improve competitiveness.
BEL MoU aligns with Atmanirbhar Bharat and export aims
The companies said the collaboration would also support the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission. BEL added that it could raise export potential for Make in India products and integrated systems. The statement linked this outcome to joint development and delivery of technology-led products for defence and non-defence customers.
