Bengaluru Blue Line Metro Route Details
The Blue Line is one of Bengaluru's most important upcoming metro corridors, connecting the Central Silk Board area with KR Puram also extending towards Kempegowda International Airport. The corridor is expected to improve connectivity in Bengaluru's busy Outer Ring Road and people will also get a direct metro link towards the airport.
Bengaluru Blue Line Metro Trials to Begin in October 2026
According to a report by Deccan Herald, trial runs on the Blue Line Phase 2A are expected to begin in two months, probably in October 2026.
The initial testing is planned on the KR Puram-Marathahalli and Marathahalli-HSR Layout stretches.
However the report mentions that the work is currently incomplete at certain locations, particularly around Marathahalli and Silk Board, which are among the major areas that is being monitored.
Blue Line Metro Phase 2A Opening Date
While trial operations are expected to begin in October, the Bengaluru Blue Line Phase 2A passenger launch is now expected in March 2027.
The Phase 2A corridor covers around 19.75 km and will have 13 stations, connecting Central Silk Board to KR Puram along the Outer Ring Road. As of August 2026, passengers cannot yet use either Phase 2A or Phase 2B of the Blue Line.
Why Is the Bengaluru Blue Line Delayed?
The main reason behind the delay is the construction around some important stations and sections, which has affected the timeline.
As per the latest update, the work on two stations on the Silk Board-KR Puram corridor is still incomplete. The Silk Board area is particularly challenging because of its heavy traffic.
So even if trial operations begin in October, the delay in these sections could affect the final launch of the Blue Line metro.
