Ahead of Mahashivratri 2026, the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has announced a complete ban on animal slaughter and sale of meat across its jurisdiction on February 15th Sunday. The directive was issued by the Deputy Director of the Animal Husbandry Department, is part of routine religious observance restrictions in Bengaluru aimed at maintaining public sentiment and order during major festivals.

According to the official public notice by the Greater Bengaluru Authority, all slaughterhouses will remain closed and meat shops will not be allowed to operate on the day of Maha Shivaratri.
